Another Year Passed

Another Year Passed

Another year of life recently passed me by and as usual, at the request of my husband, I was to decide on an adventure to celebrate. I’m not much on going so far that I can’t lay my head on my own pillow when its time to say good night because one, I really like my bed and my pillow, and two, if we venture very far, by the time we get there Im too worn out to do anything anyway, but this time I decided to go the extra mile!

I decided on a road trip to see an event called Love Worth Fighting For, for the second time! Ever heard of a guy named Kirk Cameron? 😉 He and Warren Barfield are the stars of the event and I have to say, they do not disappoint. Let me just start from the beginning. We woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed and hit the road.

It just so happened that some folks hosted a day at their home in memory of my Dad on the same day we already planned to see this event, in the same town that I do not live in or near. I like to think this was divinely arranged so I would feel like my Dad was a part of my birthday celebration. The first one Ive had since he passed. We headed there first.

We ate and visited, I got to sit atop a steer (see right ?) which just happens to symbolize my birthday month. We were surrounded by people who cared about my Dad, family I rarely get to see, and lots of animals, so this in itself, was gift enough. I played with kittens, a cat, pet a few calves, got to see some goats, love on a few dogs along with some horses, so it was an awesome day! Im an animal lover in case you cant tell 🙂

Then it was on to the event. Im sure I smelled lovely at this point but I did bring a change of clothes so at least I looked nice! We bought VIP tickets so we were able to go a little earlier than general admission to a Q&A session with Kirk Cameron. That was enjoyable and a little more intimate than the actual event, though we were late because I can never be on time to anything! To our surprise at the end of the Q&A, everyone was able to get an autograph and a photo taken(by his daughter) with Kirk Cameron which was really cool 🙂

We brought nothing with us to have autographed because we didn’t know that was going to happen (we clearly don’t read when we buy tickets), but we did get a picture with him! Once that was done, we moved to the event room where the VIP tickets got you reserved seating and the show got started. Warren Barfield warmed the room, literally with his awesome voice, his dry/sarcastic sense of humor, which is my favorite kind, and a great, honest testimony.

If you haven’t listened to his music, check him out because you are missing out. ‘Redbird’, ‘Closer’, ‘Love Is Not a Fight’ and ‘The Time Is Now’, are my favorites! ‘Love Is Not A Fight’ is featured in the movie ‘Fireproof’ starring Kirk Cameron, brought to you by the Kendrick brothers, who also brought us ‘War Room’ (also something to check out if you haven’t seen it). After a while, Kirk Cameron comes out and does a little endearing ‘Mike Seaver’ comedy before getting into the nitty gritty of a great biblical message about marriage and relationships.

I watched ‘Growing Pains’ religiously when I was a kid so I found this funny but I do believe there were some in the room too young to understand what was happening……and by too young, I mean late 20’s. Ha! Ha! (Im exaggerating. I think.) Every minute is worth the price of the tickets.

His love and respect for Christ, and his love and respect for his wife are obvious and refreshing in a society that, all too often, tries to disparage, and in my opinion, demonize biblical values as suppressive to women, when in fact, if a husband follows biblical values, he will love his wife as Christ loves the church. There is nothing suppressive about that. Single, married, hanging on by a thread, divorced……constantly working on, and bettering yourself and your relationship can only be a good thing.

Whether you really need the message or just need a wholesome date night with your better half, this wont disappoint if you want to have a few laughs, and have a love for God and for truth. We had a great time for the second time! So get yourself some tickets, get yourself a baby sitter and make a night of it. We finished our night off with a bag full of t-shirts, a steak dinner, and a long drive home. Did you catch that? Yep, we drove home because I just wanted MY pillow and MY bed. Bless my husband ❤️ and thank God for him ?
